Spark Hydroelectric Company Limited was established on September 30, 1999, under the Office of the Company Registrar of the Government of Nepal, Spark Hydroelectric Company Limited operates as a public limited company. Our core mission is discovering, studying, and developing hydropower projects to generate and sell clean electricity. By leveraging Nepal’s abundant natural resources, we aim to play a pivotal role in the country’s energy sector, contributing to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
We endeavor to lead the development of sustainable energy production by harnessing Nepal’s rich hydropower resources. Our commitment to generating clean, reliable electricity is unchangeable, as we prioritize environmental management and the welfare of the communities we serve. Our goals are closely aligned with global sustainability initiatives aimed at addressing climate change and promoting clean energy. By focusing on hydropower generation, we are committed to reducing carbon footprints and minimizing reliance on fossil fuels. Projects like the ‘Tamor-Mewa Hydroelectric Project’ not only provide renewable energy but also significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Spark Hydroelectric Company Limited has achieved significant milestones underscoring our commitment to sustainable energy development: We obtained the Generation License for 35 years for the ‘Tamor-Mewa Hydroelectric Project‘ having installed capacity of 128 MW. This long-term license ensures we can provide clean energy for years to come. Environmental Impactassessment (EIA) has been approved from the concerned ministry of government. Our commitment to environmental management is demonstrated by the approval of the EIA from the concerned ministry of Nepal, ensuring that our project adheres to stringent environmental standards. Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed for 30-year with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) which is sole agency of government to buy and sell power in Nepal, which guaranteed a stable and fixed market for the electricity generated by our project, thereby ensuring financial viability and long-term success. At present, we are in under construction phase. The project will be completed in October 2028.
Our growth has been bolstered by technological advancements and strategic partnerships. We utilize advanced technologies in hydropower generation, including efficient turbine designs and innovative water management systems, optimizing energy output while minimizing environmental impact. Collaborations with leading engineering firms and technology providers have allowed us to leverage their expertise in project development and implementation, ensuring successful execution. The backing from the Government of Nepal has been crucial in navigating regulatory processes and facilitating project approvals, significantly benefiting our initiatives.
We prioritize the careful management of water resources, ensuring that our projects minimize land disturbance and protect local ecosystems. Our projects undergo rigorous environmental assessments to identify potential impacts on wildlife and habitats, allowing us to implement measures that preserve biodiversity.
We are committed to positively impacting the communities surrounding our projects. We create employment opportunities during both construction and operational phases, contributing to local economic development. We actively engage with local residents to understand their needs and concerns, ensuring our projects benefit the communities they are part of.
